As for me, I have learned and read so much this summer while taking four classes (LIS 716, 773, 724, & 725) that I cannot even begin to jot it all down. My head is flowing with copyright, collaboration, RTI, NCLB, collection mapping, differentiation, assessments, reading strategies, grant writing, blogging, wikis, websites, voice threads, online tutorials, interviews with SLMS, collection development, leadership, and on, and on, I can go. I feel like this summer has been a super-crash course on what being a librarian truly means. And fortunately, I still want to continue. I truly feel up to the challenge of being a School Library Media Specialist and I look forward to someday working with you all again in some capacity. Good luck to you!

Whew, four classes this summer! That's enough to make my head spin.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all your work this summer. It's great that you are so enthusiastic about this change in your career! Moving into the library and becoming a school library was the best move I ever made. I love my job and the work. It is an enjoyable challenge and different every day, and it is a much better fit for me than being a classroom teacher.
I hope that you will it to be fulfilling and meaningful work as well.
I hope you stay in touch, J. I know what you mean about four classes in one summer. I just need time for everything to sink in! Are you going to continue working the ESL job? What are you taking this semester?
ReplyDeleteOh, and that picture is ADORABLE!
